David RUBINGER (1924-2017) était un reporter et photographe israélien. D’origine autrichienne, il fuit le nazisme en 1939 et se réfugia en Palestine, alors sous mandat britannique. Lors d’un congé à Paris, sa petite amie de l’époque lui offrit un appareil photo. La photographie lui plut, David RUBINGER décida d’en faire son métier. Témoin de la naissance de l’État d’Israël en 1948, ses photographies ont immortalisé nombres d’évènements, de conflits armés, ainsi que le quotidien des israéliens. David RUBINGER a porté son objectif sur de multiples sujets, faisant de son œuvre un fond d’archives monumentales. Il a réalisé quelques-unes des plus célèbres photos de reportage du XXème siècle.
